Bye Emirates

Time which has to come will come at last, no matter what. Finally Thierry Henry agreed to transfer to Barcelona: the news I wish I never hear.

Henry began his career legend in Arsenal, and I strongly believe with his skill, he will continue his legend in Barcelona as well....

It's time for Henry to bid farewell to Emirates, it's time for me to say bye-bye to Arsenal, it's time for Henry to start a new life in Barcelona; and it's time for me to support and welcome Barcelona.

Henry, wherever you go, I'll support you whole-heartedly! My support for Henry will never die...

Concern

The headline in The Star today, Hell-bent on Looking Thin drew my attention, without wasting any time, I read the details. Eating disorder doesn’t only prevail in developed countries but it’s getting a place in Malaysia too.

How many will actually value or appreciate internal beauty? In the contrary, most regard slim ladies as clever, efficient and pretty; overweight ladies as stupid, clumsy and ugly. What such a melancholy sight?! This indirectly leads to fatal eating disorders like anorexia nervosa and bulimia among teenage girls. The consequences can be really devastating and irreversible if no proper treatment and consultation taken.

I don’t deny I wish to be slim as well, and to be honest, I’m struggling to slim down and feel guilty whenever I eat supper or oily food. “smile”. Maybe I regard myself staying in a world connected with people, and I couldn’t get rid of the peer pressure where slimness is so important for a girl. But, try to think, what’s the point of living a life without savoring nice food?

For me, slimness is just like a pearl, which is just sand actually, but we value it so much. We are foolish enough, aren't we? Sometimes I wonder why human values gold instead of pebble, look at and think of it, both simply are just dirt before going through any refinement. “smile”. Actually whether fat or slim is not a big deal as long as we are healthy.

Ocean Size Love by Leigh Nash

I know what I'm doing may be dumb
I know I should not be staring at the sun
But the thought of you leads me to temptation
It's the same whatever side you're on
Separated we are delicate and small
And the space between needs a retention

I see you right in front of me as close as you can get
And I pray that you won't leave this daydream yet

And it might seem much too far to get back to where you are
But it's close enough with an ocean size love
So if you can't reach out to me
Send a sign across the sea and I'll pick it up with an ocean size love

I don't have to worry anymore
If I really need you I'll go to the shore
And the thought of you there is my protection

I see it right in front of me
A vision in my head
And I know this is as real as a daydream gets

And it might seem much too far to get back to where you are
But it's close enough with an ocean size love
So if you can't reach out to me
Send a sign across the sea and I'll pick it up with an ocean size love

You make no sound but I can hear you in the wind
I can see this never ends
Like the sea
Like you for me

And it's close enough with an ocean size love
So if you can't reach out to me
Send a sign across the sea and I'll pick it up with an ocean size love

And it might seem much too far to get back to where you are
But it's close enough with an ocean size love
So if you can't reach out to me
Send a sign across the sea and I'll pick it up with an ocean size love

p/s: I've been loving this song since the very first time I heard it. Love at first sight... "smile"
My friend said her voice is sexy!!! I said her voice is melodious!!!!

Compelling Reading, Book Review 2

Recently, I'm really crazy about reading novels after like stopping for almost one year. As I said I'm crazy about novels now, I could almost finish one novel everyday and the next morning, I'll go UTAR library and borrow another one! *sweat*

A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks is a heartwarming, moving and bittersweet love story. At first, it really challenged my patience as the opening was rather boring, and I put it aside. Later I picked it up as to give Sparks a second chance, and I found myself totally immersed in the tender love story between Landon and Jamie (the male and female main character respectively).

Though there is no flowery language nor bombastic words used, Sparks captivates you with the simple yet impressive storyline. I would say I'll never forget this story "A Walk to Remember"....

Below is the passage from Corinthians that Jamie liked and I find myself like it not less than Jamie:

Love is always patient and kind.
It is never jeolous. Love is never boastful or conceited.
It is never rude or selfish.
It does not take offense and is not resentful.
Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins,
but delights in the truth.
It is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope,
and to endure whatever comes.

Compelling Reading, Book Review

The Stars Shine Down-another masterpiece from Sidney Sheldon (the best storyteller); another unputdownable novel. This is my most favourite book among all Sheldon's works. The story has been a real roller coaster. I like the ending, a twist that I never expect! I like every single line in it. For those who like suspense, surely you shouldn't have a miss of The Stars Shine Down.

The Stars Shine Down is definitely a magnificent story of passion, intrigue, ambition and revenge moving from Scotland and Nova Scotia, to Chicago, New York, London, Rome and Reno...

p/s: this is not Sheldon's latest works, but around 20 years back.

Yum Yum, Food Review...

Haiz, I didn't get to study today again =.=

I still remembered my parents asked me to skip orientation, but I insisted coming here a few days before the commencement day. I told them I wanted to adapt myself here and study hard for my degree... It seemed that now I'm far from what I promised my parents. I go out with friends every weekend. *sweat*

Honestly, I like sampling different kind of food, so now whenever I get to know new friends, I'd ask "Is there any nice food in your place?" Haha...

Today I went with Kelvin and Hon Tong to Khai Yuen's place, Ampang to try "yong tau fu". For those who hasn't been there, I strongly recommend you to go there. The "yong tau fu" there is beyond the praise. I'm not exaggerating, seriously. Though Ampang is a bit far from PJ, it's really worthwhile to have a try of "yong tau fu" there.

Last night, Kelvin, Hon Tong and I (again) went to eat "loh mee" at SS2, I'm not sure the name of the shop, but it's a few shops next to Nanking Restaurant. The "loh mee" is quite special, the noodle is not the normal noodle we eat, but I guess it's hand-made one.

p/s: If you ate any nice food before, please tell me, I will try my best to go there.

p/s 2: There is no camera attached in my phone, so I didn't take any photos of the food....

Random Thought for The Day

Today I was only alert for one lecture that was Basic Professional Writing. I had a few snoozes throughout the lecture early in the morning; it was really early, 8 a.m.! Some more it’s Monday. Later on, I dozed off as well in tutorial class until the tutor’s voice boomed into my ears; I was alert for the last 20 minutes. “Smile”… However, I was really concentrated in the Basic Professional Writing at noon. The reason was the lecturer was marvelous. She doesn’t look energetic, strict instead. But, on the contrary, her lecture was very interesting. I found out today’s lecture was quite interactive and good, good not in sense of useful material for exam, but rather good in sense of useful tips for daily life. My lecturer always gave us examples which could be visualized easily, as all the examples are happening around our daily life. Today’s lecture was about culture and some reading skills.

How often will we put a small magazine, pocket book, thesaurus or dictionary in our pocket or bag? How often will we read in train, bus or LRT? How will others look at us if we do so? However, if you go some western countries or Japan, reading in public transport is so common.

How often will we, Malaysians do our part in workplace whole heartedly? As we can see, many scandals flood the newspaper front page headline everyday: leakage in roof, landslide in highway, flash flood in low areas. All these can be avoided actually if we have regular maintenance and provided there is no corruption and bribery in the process. *no offense*. Often, we hear that this friend’s or that neighbor’s newly bought national car doesn’t functional well. On the contrary, as we can see, Japan or Germany-made-cars can last for many years with proper care and regular service of course. Though after World War 2, most thought that Japan would just continue to stay on their own or would corrupt one day, they came up with their powerful products and made their country proud. One of the main reasons is the workers’ attitude towards their work.

How often will we CEO in Malaysia bows to and greets the workers? How often will we find our public toilet to be clean though we pay for it? How often will the wedding dinner start on time especially the Chinese one? However, in Japan again, the CEOs do bow to their workers, the public toilets are as clean as those in five-star hotels and punctuality is their prime principal that they hold firmly. These not only happen in Japan, but in some western countries as well.

How often will we see the ground of public transport is clean? Sweet wrappers, tissue paper, and etc are commonly “left” at the seats unintentionally or thrown on the floor. We never pay attention to this. But if we were in Japan, Japanese will definitely cast a “dirty” look on us if we ever do this.

Have we ever wondered where have we gone wrong? Should we evaluate ourselves? I don’t mean that we don’t have great things to be proud of, but it could really be countable. We don’t have light reading instead we have critical reading all the time. Why? Why do most of the students have interest in reading the dull text books while novels are far better and more interesting? Undoubtedly, this is because of the system we have: exam-oriented. This is especially true for Chinese, as exam has been so important since the past centuries whereby students study hard all the time in order to get “chong yuen” which is similar or equivalent to PHD today. And many think that those arrive late will look to be higher class, and thus punctuality problem is never solved. Cleanliness is another problem in our country too, we always have such thinking “this is not my home, who cares; I’ve paid for it, let those who are responsible in cleaning to do it”, and hence, we always have to close our mouth and nostrils when we go toilets. We also always think that those who are under us or have a lower status have to greet us first, or else we would “lose face”. As a result of less reading, most of Malaysian’s dreams go down the drain, while Newton’s pipe dreams (for most people that time) come true one by one. As I know, most scientists and inventors are well-read!

It’s hard to change our “culture” over night, but let’s begin with you and me :)

p/s: this is supposedly posted yesterday, but as a result of the “rocks” Streamyx, I only manage to post it now.
