Today morning revival, "The God of Moses' father was the God of Abraham, the God of Issac, and the God of Jacob. This means that God is the God of every kind of person."
Well, I think you and I both agree that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob also refers to the Triune God.
God of Abraham refers to the God of justification (Father God). It can be said that Abraham was justified by his faith in God, leaving everything else and following God.
God of Isaac refers to the God of grace (Son God). Isaac was "killed" on the altar. But it was God's grace that "resurrected" Him. Besides that, Isaac also typifies Christ the Son. He was obedient unto "death". He carried the wood to the top of Mount Moriah, and was crucified and raised up like Jesus. Moreover, his wife, Rebekah, was prepared by Abraham's servant (typifying the Spirit), who was sent by Abraham (typifying the Father). Likewise, the Bride of Christ, the church, is prepared by the Spirit for the Son.
The God of Jacob (with Joseph) is the God of transformation through divine discipline. Jacob was very natural. He struggled with Laban for 14 years to marry the one he love, Rachel. In the war with Esau, Jacob even placed Rachel in the last camp to protect her. Jacob love was biased towards Rachel and her sons, Joseph and Benjamin. At the birth of Benjamin, the God of transformation took away Rachel (natural preference), to bring forth Benjamin (typifies Christ). The God of transformation further deals with Jacob by letting Joseph fall into the hands of Pharaoh. However, Jacob was still natural. He held back Benjamin when he sent all his other sons to buy grains. Joseph wanted to see Benjamin or he will not sell grains to them. Joseph held back one son of Jacob. At this juncture, Jacob was fully transformed. He let go of Benjamin, and fully trusted in the All-sufficient God (Gen. 43:14).
I believe that very much explained why God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob.
In a more shallow sense, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Israel) are our fathers. We are the seed of Abraham. So being the God of Abraham, God of Isaac and God of Jacob it means that He is the God of the children of Israel, and also our God.
Couldn't explain the Tom, Dick, and Harry part. But I come from a different angle. lols
